What is a Facial Fat Transfer?
Fat transfer, also known as fat grafting, is a process that involves harvesting fat cells from other parts of the body, purifying them, and then injecting them into the treatment site. This is done to increase volume in areas such as the cheeks, lips, chin, marionette lines, nasolabial folds, forehead, and jawline.
We typically combine fat transfer with the facelift, but we can also perform it during any liposuction procedure. It is beneficial because it uses your own fat, reducing the need for other facial fillers.
The face has a robust blood supply, which supports high-fat survival. However, knowledge of anatomy is crucial, and the placement of the fat must be precise.
